Drawing inspiration from the mythical kraken, this mechanical pendulum was designed to emulate the
profile of a squid. The fluid nature of the squid's tentacles allowed me to design an aesthetically
creative — yet practical — iteration of the classic pendulum mechanism.
The final design performed without frictional stalling or halting of the mechanism. The weight of
one nut
provided enough gravitational energy to continuously run the pendulum. The device was able to
tick at a speed of about 9.83 seconds per escapement wheel revolution.
Rigid-Body and Point-Mass analysis were performed and compared using the geometry of my
